Usaama Minhas

Poet, rapper and actor.

While completing his actor training in New York, Usaama began performing at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe and the Pyramid Club. In 2013, Usaama released the Hand in Hand EP, his self-produced album combining Rap music and Spoken Word poetry, and later that year won the ‘Britain’s Got Bars’ Rap Battle Tournament at French Montana’s show at the indigo at The O2, sharing the stage with Lady Leshurr and Ghetts.

He was long-listed for the Outspoken Prize For Poetry in 2017 and 2018. Usaama is the 2017 Hammer and Tongue Hackney Slam Champion, and the 2018 Hammer and Tongue National Poetry Slam Champion.

In 2018, he released the Forgot About Rap mixtape. Usaama continues to release new music regularly, while once again endeavouring into the world of theatre and television. Videos of his poetry performances can be viewed on YouTube, and his music is available across music platforms and streaming services.
